Terry Boyle
Managing Carpenter
Terry has been involved in numerous facets of both the design and build industries for the past 40 years, starting out as a carpenter's helper at 17, and continued throughout his college years. While attending the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design achieving degrees in Illustration and photography, he was out framing homes year 'round whenever he wasn't in class. After college, relocating to Chicago didn't net him an art gig, but did get him going into remodeling and finish carpentry in all of the North Shore communities of Chicago, where his design acumen and attention to detail came to the fore.
Moving back to Milwaukee after two years, he continued as a finish carpenter in the North Shore communities of Milwaukee, and after a few years, made a segue into working for a trade show exhibit company as a lead carpenter/show floor installer. This experience allowed him to expand his shop skills to include metal fabrication, welding, while also doing some of the specialty production design needed for exhibit experiences.
A chance dinner found him changing paths again, going into manufacturing as a Design Engineer creating, prototyping, testing, and overseeing the production of OEM/aftermarket seats and saddlebags for Harley-Davidson, Yamaha, Suzuki, and Honda over a 6-year span. Burnout and a desire to get back in the trades found him connecting with another MIAD grad at Flux Design, who at that time were the premier design/build house for bar and restaurant design. Terry worked with them for two years as a lead designer/project manager until the economy ground things to a halt.
Not one to sit and wait, Terry then took the reins as Director of Exhibits at the Betty Brinn Children's Museum, redesigning nearly half of the exhibit floor, as well as the design and development of some of their traveling exhibit properties. After 4 years there, he returned to the design/build industry for the entertainment and hospitality sectors in Milwaukee and around the country. Terry brings these diverse and extensive areas of experience to Flatwater Homes, providing strength in the ability to understand the many aspects of a project and foresee potential issues, and determine the most viable solutions for them.
Terry resides in the Village of Saukville, about 30 miles north of Milwaukee, with his wife Julia, while their two children Madeline and Wylan are both attending UW-Milwaukee. He spends his free time either out on his Harley, or continuing his art skills designing/creating furniture and illustrations.
