Al Herrell
General Superintendent
Al is a 3rd generation carpenter. His Grandfather was instrumental in helping form the Milwaukee Carpenters Union, and his father was a master carpenter who owned his own remodeling company for many years. Al became an electrical apprentice right after high school as he wanted to pursue a career in the trades outside of carpentry. Fortunately for us, fate brought Al back to carpentry less than a year into his electrical apprenticeship to work at his father’s remodeling company.
After working for his father, Al spent a few years with several premier remodelers in the Greater Milwaukee area and eventually ended up working the next 10 years for one of the largest/most well-known carpentry companies in S.E. Wisconsin as a framer (multifamily-residential) and for the remainder of his tenure as a multi-Family finish carpentry foreman.
Next in his career, Al was a part owner of a company that specialized in framing and finish carpentry. The company’s scope of work was large multifamily/condo projects as well as residential homes. He ultimately became the sole owner of the finish carpentry half of that business and was successful for several years.
For the last 15 years Al has worked with one of the North Shore area’s premier high end home builder/designers as a subcontracted master carpenter and builder’s representative. During this time, he remodeled down town Milwaukee land marks such as the Mitchell/Mackie buildings and 3rd Ward buildings. He has worked on Civil War era timber framed houses, barn remodel and restorations as well as constructing new homes and remodeling homes in the north shore area that were designed by several of the state's prominent architectural firms.
In total, Al has over 38 years of construction experience. Al has been married for 28 years and has 4 children. He enjoys spending time with his family, camping, and is an avid outdoorsman. With his extensive knowledge, He looks forward to helping Flatwater Homes realize their vision of providing unique, high-quality homes with an attention to detail like no other.
