Bryan Hantula
Carpenter
Born into a family of Carpenters, Bryan knew what his dream career was at an early age, sitting in the driveway for hours as a child pounding nails into scraps from his grandfather’s carpentry company. He followed in his father and grandfather’s footsteps at 12, digging post holes, hauling lumber, and swinging hammers. By 16, he had helped construct decks, gazebos, and pergolas and worked at the sales booth at all the fairs and trade shows. By 18, he was bidding jobs for customers and integral to job completion.
At 18, Bryan began working with a nonunion electrician, learning the residential side of the trade and continuing to help his grandfather’s business. After the owner moved to Virginia, Bryan continued in the family business, building Decks and Gazebos. In his early 20s, he began to get into woodworking and custom furniture, learning a more polished skill set and introducing him to the craftsman furniture style and repurposing of used hardwood and lamination, which he specializes in today, building custom artisans all furniture and cabinets as a hobby and side business.
As Bryan's grandfather aged and the business downsized, Bryan decided to take a job with a friendly competitor, building custom deck additions and commercial/residential windows/doors/siding.
At age 28, he worked for a home builder, where he learned how to frame houses from the ground up and once again broadened his skills as a carpenter. After a couple of years with this home builder, he found a home with Flatwater Homes.
Bryan still spends his free time woodworking and building furniture, enjoying the outdoors, and fishing as much as possible, whether in small lakes or downrigging big lakes. In addition to his hobbies, Bryan enjoys staying home, relaxing, and cooking different foods to taste the world’s cuisine.
