Morgan Compton
Carpenter
I'm Morgan or "Mo," I grew up in Manitowoc, and I've always had an interest in all things creative. While studying ceramics at UWM, I solidified my love of working with my hands and developed an interest in Set Design.
I also felt a drive to explore other states. I moved to Colorado where I joined the Solar Industry as an Installer. I loved exploring and being outdoors in all the majestic landscapes of the Mountain West, which were so different from Wisconsin. I was also lucky to spend the last two years of my Solar Chapter in Albuquerque, appreciating desert culture and acquiring vintage turquoise pieces. Over my six years in the industry, I became a Lead, promoted to a Warehouse Manager, and by the end of that time, I realized that I missed the act of actually making and building things myself. I wanted to expand my skills beyond rooftops and ground-mounted solar arrays.
Thanks in part to my brother-in-law's master woodworking skills and Carpentry career, I decided to work on my carpentry skills. When my wife and I moved to Milwaukee, I started working with a small local company doing renovation projects as an apprentice and packing my tool belt with new skills. The switch has been great! I get so much satisfaction from a beautiful finished project, and I especially love doing ornate, intricate tile-work. After a few years with that company, I'm happy to join Flatwater where I'll continue to learn and grow my skillset to a new level.
Outside of work, I love comedy, hanging out with my two mischievous dogs, spending time on the lake, and seeing live music.
